julegacy: Ok but hc or scenario for Joseph teaching josuke hamon. It really kills me that Joseph never taught anyone in the series, I feel like a stand with hamon would be really powerful.

Joseph getting a stand: good

Joseph using hamon along with his stand: better

Joseph teaching hamon to Josuke: best

  • Joseph, by part 4, is a bit out of practice with hamon. He can still do his parlor tricks, blowing the lids off soda bottles and playing with his food, but he’s not able to, like, cling to walls or walk on water like he could at the height of his ability in part 2.
  • But of course, he wants to pass on the hamon skill. He knows it’s not a widely known skill anymore, and he wants to pass on what he knows before his time comes. It’s a combination of feeling like he wants the “hamon warriors”, as the pillar men put it, to continue, and a way to better connect with his son.
  • Josuke is a good kid, he does his best to listen to his old man. Sometimes it can seem like Joseph is a bit senile, but Josuke’s heard stories from Jotaro about what Joseph can do. So he tries. He’ll often invite Okuyasu along for hamon lessons, and Joseph is more than happy to teach them both. The two remind him of himself and Caesar, at times.
  • It takes a while. Joseph isn’t the best teacher, and Josuke and Okuyasu have never been the best students. But with time, they get it. Josuke first, it’s in his blood, and then he and Joseph help Okuyasu.
  • Josuke mainly uses it to enhance Crazy Diamond’s healing abilities. He still can’t bring anything back from the dead, but he feels a stronger connection between himself and living things, and feels like he’s healing them… better, in a way. Before hamon, when he healed a person, he imagined it as fixing a broken object, but now he tries to focus more on restoring energy.
  • Though their primary weapons are still their stands, they continue hamon training after Joseph leaves Morioh. Josuke wants to learn how to talk on water, Okuyasu bets him a twenty that he can do it first. Joseph is proud of his kid.
