It may seem like bisexuality specifies attraction to less genders than pansexuality so bisexuality and other multisexual/multi-gender attracted labels must be a subset of pansexuality.

However, pansexuality is a term that is more specific than bisexuality, people use pansexuality as a label because they wish to make it clear beyond a doubt that they are attracted to all genders or regardless of gender.

Bisexuality includes this type of attraction but also includes anyone who is attracted to more than one gender and wishes to use that label, so it is a wider reaching and more inclusive term than pansexuality.

But maybe rather than putting pansexuality under the bi umbrella or bisexuality under the pan-parasol, we should start a multisexual/multi-gender attraction marquee (there’s even a multisexual pride flag!)  and include everyone with some form of attraction to more than one gender as equals.
