I wont repeat here what I need help and input on though so here is the previous post I did on that (check the tags for more info) and if you’d like to give your opinion and/or experience on something not mentionned here then you’re still very welcome and encouraged to either reblog this post and directly add something (ill check the tags dont worry) or send me an ask (on or off anon) or IM me!
Ok so I’m in the process of doing a sort of ‘masterpost’ on pansexuality (what it is, how it’s different from bi and maybe other multisexualities/romantism) and I’m gathering a lot of ressource right now so if anyone has something to share on their experience, on why they choose to label as ‘pan’ (over another label or as pan and others labels) or wanted to correct a mistake that they frequently see and that makes them want to throw a book by the window, feel free to message me. This message is intended for pansexuals and panromantics but also any mogai person who chose another label over pan-. Every input is appreciated! And if you saw a post on the subject that you find really great or that it helped you understand pansexuality/romantism you’re also very much welcome to send me a link to it!
i’ve seen a lot of (totally valid) questions about pansexuality so i made this faq!! if you have any questions or ones that you’ve heard a lot from other people, message me and i’ll add them.
faq contents:
❁ what is pansexuality?
❁ but what does it really MEAN?
❁ isn’t that just a tumblr thing?
❁ so you’re attracted to everyone?
❁ can i be pan if i have a preference?
❁ so bi = male & female, and pan = all genders?
❁ isn’t that the same thing as bisexuality?
❁ why so many labels? / isn’t this just to be special and to get attention?
Because I just read a post on the difference between bisexuality and pansexuality, and I’m confused??? Like… Bisexual people /don’t/ get attracted to trans men and women, but discriminating against trans men and women by putting them in that category and not calling them real men and women which they actually are is transphobic and discriminatory????? Can someone help me out pls
Someone gave you the wrong definitions! Bisexuality is when you’re attracted to two or more genders. Usually this means men and women (both cis and trans), but many bisexual people are attracted to nonbinary genders too. Pansexuality is when you’re attracted to all genders, which means men and women (cis and trans) and all nonbinary genders.
I couldn’t have said it better. I can link you to a post that goes more in depth if you want. I also wrote something about it once if you’re interested.
To me, pansexuality is the attraction to all genders, regardless of genitals. “pan” means ‘all’ in greek. It is essentially choosing your partner based on personality, rather than one specific gender.
It is different from being bisexual as bi (as far as i’m aware) is the attraction to your own gender and one other.
SIDE NOTE: Some pansexual people use the label bisexual as an umbrella term as it is a bigger and generally more publicly known sexuality. This is an individuals choice, however.
Google definition (for clarity): pansexual-not limited in sexual choice with regard to biological sex, gender, or gender identity.
i hoped this helped, anon!

I’d like to add more information. Pan- is most commonly defined as “attracted to all genders”, if the attraction is regardless of gender is up to the person. (I believe using ‘genitals’ in this context is transphobic but I’m not 100% sure)
Now, the two most ofently used definitions for bi- are “attracted to two or more genders” and “attracted to the same gender and other genders”. I’m not bisexual myself so it’s based on what I’ve read from actual biromantics and/or sexuals.
Though bi- is used as a way of describing a pan-’s orientation without furhter explanation, the most used umbrella term is “multisexual/romantic” as opposed to “monosexual/romantic”. Multisexuality and/or romantism includes bi- and pan- as well as poly-, omni- and much more I’m not currently aware of. I must admit that I’m not entirely sure of the definition of omni- so I won’t talk about it but I know that poly- is the attraction to multiple genders.
I hope this doesn’t come out as rude or anything, I just wanted to politely add more info on my sexual orientation and the other multisexualities! :)
Hey I’m Valkyrie, I’m pansexual and this is a blog dedicated to giving pansexuals a voice and a place to go for advice, considering school doesn’t tell you much about this stuff.
You can ask me anything, on anon or off (if you want it posted privately just add that at the bottom of the message) whether you’re questioning your sexuality or just wanting to chat to people who can relate to you.
Please signal boost this as it’s important to give pansexual people a voice and a place of comfort online.
*nsfw ask are allowed as it is important to do the fun stuff safely ;)*
How did you all figure out you’re pan? I wanna hear all your gay secrets.
I was goign through the “pansexualiy” tag (i don’t remember how I first heard of the term though) and I pretty quilckly figured that it was me! I then thought about it the whole next day and was like “yes. this. me. very much.”
general)- would that be a solid way to explain the difference? Sorry if this has already been asked ^^“ I just want to make sure I define things properly since my family tends to ask me about lgbtqria+ things, since I’m the only one in the family who knows about these things…
Bisexual - 2 or more genders
Pansexual - all genders
A bisexual does not have to be attracted to all genders. They can be attracted to 2 genders, a few genders, a lot of genders, almost all genders ,or all genders. Pansexual is strictly all. No less than all. That’s the main difference (that bisexual has a range of attraction to genders; pansexual is strictly all).
Some Pansexuals do define their sexuality as having an attraction to all genders and gender doesn’t play a role in attraction, BUT I have seen other pansexuals say this is inaccurate as well. They say that Pansexuals are allowed to have preferences. So I would be careful not to use that definition. Especially not “gender blind” since that erases gender identity, and is generally not a good term to use.
So it pretty much narrows down to this:
What do you prefer to identity as?
If you like all genders and prefer pansexual? You’re pansexual. Prefer bisexual? You’re bisexual. Prefer both? You can ID as both!
Are you attracted to many genders but not all and prefer bisexual? You’re bisexual. Prefer polysexual? You’re polysexual. Prefer both? You can ID as both! I identify as both bi and polysexual, myself.
Hope this helped
Saw this in the shop center the other day and I thought it would be cool to post it today! I see this flag everywhere it’s crazy
So tomorrow (December 8th) is pan pride day and I’m pretty excited!! I really hope people won’t make it also about other multisexualities like they did on bi pride day wich was awful though. Anyway, I’ll probably post a picture of my glorious face for the occasion!
Hey, I’m opening a blog now called @closetedpanopinions as a follow to all of these @closetedlesbianopinions and @closetedtransgirlopinions! If you would please spread the word, I would really appreciate it, <3
