looseleafanarchist:

How a girl I know can sit there and talk about how they’re lesbian and how people discriminate and dismiss their sexuality and then turn right around and discredit the fact that I don’t give a fuck about genders when it comes to SO’s.

(there is a big long and very angry rant below here that while important I get not everyone wants to read it or see it ontheir dash so tl;dr… Pansexuality and Bisexuality are legitimate and telling people otherwise makes you a bigoted asshole that needs to fuck right off)

@seeyoulaterbi and @datmoki ya’ll i am makin’ fun of u

after a quick look through both this blog and what i think is your main, im sorry to tell you but youre garbage people. you do not hold the right to police what label people can or cant use for fucks sake. i am sga or i wont say that im gay, though it is basically an umbrella term for the whole community. you cant force people in “gay” bars, “gay” prides, “gay” spaces, gay everything and then tell everyone who isnt strictly sga to stfu and stop id with gay. it just doesnt make sense. Also, just a tip but if youre going to delete that post because people didnt understand the ~~irony~~ and ~~satire~~ go all the way and delete your blog also.

According to Sigmund Freud you’re not Pansexual

spellboundtothestars:

mister-christmas:

The original definition of pansexuality as described by Sigmund Freud is sexual attraction to literally EVERYTHING. Including inanimate objects (objectophilia), animals (zoophilia), corpses (necrophilia), trees ( dendrophilia), and fucking kids (pedophilia).

Freud has been discredited for a while now and is thus irrelevant in modern times unless looking at history and neuroscience (the guy was a genius and had advanced sketches and theories about neurons and the brain in general that are now being looked into again due to technology developments) Also, words change meaning over time. For example, bisexual used to mean two sexes within a species and I heard somewhere else that it used to mean intersex as well. Gay used to mean solely happy. The f slur used against the LGBT community orginally meant a bundle of sticks. Furthermore, pansexual came about in the 1990s when the nonbinary and genderqueer movement begain. It was reclaimed by the community because pan is a Greek prefix for all or every. The word still literally means sexually attracted to all. However the context in which it is used has changed because language evolves.

Sincerely, A pansexual senior psychology major

What does this even mean?????

what is this?????? what??????????????????????????????????? Like I could go into how sexuality has been viewed radically differently throughout history and lesbianism (and any of our modern sexualities) can not be applicable throughout the entirety of it. Calling famous “lesbian” poets/writers like Sappho pansexual would actually likely be closer to their true orientation then calling them lesbian (there is evidence that Sappho preferred women but also was interested in men) but it is still not really applicable because of how different past cultures are to ours. Neither of those abbreviations are right but saying that bisexuals/pan/queer/ect. don’t have the right to use one of them bc its “appropriating lesbian culture” is straight up biphobic/panphobic and ridiculous as hell.

@lesbiananyajenkins pls lament with us about biphobes >:^(

honestly that post is so biphobic like the wlw community is meant for all women who love women????? it does not matter their orientation as long as they love women.

women who love women don’t appropriate lesbian culture (unless it’s certain words like butch, femme, d*ke etc just because they carry a kind of significance in the lesbian community) and honestly dividing people within the sapphic community by defining them by their relationship to men is a) biphobic/panphobic b) really misogynist??? like way to define women based on their interactions with men and c) just bad for the wlw community in general

intracommunity drama and separation is just bad in general and trying to divide wlw is so counterintuitive like what are you accomplishing here

I KNOW ITS TERRIBLE. Honestly tho some of the worst bi/panphobia I’ve gotten is from lesbians and I have no idea why? Like I wish we as a community could just NOT.

yeah most of them are also terfs/twefs who hold up gold star mentality which is unfortunate because it puts such a bad face on the lesbian community which SUCKS

lesbians who behave this way towards other wlw just? confuse the hell out of me tbh… you’d think we’d all be able to sympathize with each other and be supportive but somehow it turns into a superiority contest

yeah it’s a huge intracommunity issue (with problems coming from both sides) that’s been going on for a long time that needs to be addressed and it’s really disheartening to see it continue happening. I’ve been lucky enough to follow wlw blogs that are directed towards positivity instead of picking sides so it’s always such a shock to see shit like this going down

queen-ofknives:

What’s actually the point of pansexuality if bisexuality already exists?

Like, okay, I’ll humor you and say that “sexuality is based on gender identity” and that “all these identities exist” and whatever, (now don’t get stuck here, there’s more), and pansexuals are attracted to any body, any identity and expression, but then at the same time bisexuality covers the exact same thing? When honestly, by it’s very name, should only cover two genders, but whatever I guess. I’m humoring you, so we’ll just go with what it is.

If someone is attracted to anyone regardless of their gender, but identify as bisexual, why don’t pansexuals just identify as bisexual? Why create a whole separate sexuality that is exactly like one that’s been established for much longer than some of these gender identities have existed.

So tell me, if a bisexual can be attracted to 2, 3, or all genders, then why have pansexuality, which is attraction to all genders, or regardless of gender, as an actual sexuality? What’s it’s purpose?

The main difference is that bi- can be the attraction to any number of genders and pan to all, as you said.

When someone identify as pan, they want to make it clear that they are attracted to every gender. There are other various reason to identify as one term over the other but i think this one is the most related to what you’re addressing here. As for poly-, I’m not poly myself nor talked a lot about polysexuality/romantism so I can’t provide a satisfying answer but it may be to dissociate themselves from the bi history? As a general answer, people identify as a label over another because it’s what resonate the most with them. It is also allowed for someone to id as some or all of those label.

Also, please keep in mind that we did not “invent” genders in the 21th century so in fact, bisexuality did not exist for “much longer than some of these gender identities”

Aaaaah I love blocking blogs because of their panphobia, it feels soooo great! What I love the most is when they say that pan- is the same as bi-, sooo validating and giving such a great image of the bi- community! The top of the top is when it’s clearly stated that they are “anti-feminism” or “equalitiarian” or some other bullshit!!! They’re all such nice people!!
