After a month of inactivity I bring you a Jake from R-stuck
I super love the idea of Jake becoming the new leader of the Felt and Crowbar being his new mentor though. And I love the idea of the Felt teaching him about their “quadrants” and how they sort their very complicated relationships in easy-to-understand terms.
I want it to help Jake understand his feelings for others in ways he wasn’t able to express before. Like “By Jove! I get it now! My feelings for Dirk were always more Stars and Balloons! Not so much Horseshoes and definitely not Clovers. But Roxy seems like a Clovers kind of gal…” And you get the gist.
And I really want Jake to accidentally call Crowbar “dad” every now and then. And Jake is super embarrassed every time and Crowbar feels kind of weird about it but it’s a good kind of weird. And maybe he ends up becoming extra protective of Jake because of it. And it’s just great to think about Jake going from no family and complete isolation to having Jade and HUMONGOUS GREEN MOB FAMILY and everything is chaos but it’s a whole new adventure for him and he loves it.
Jake being aromantic makes a lot of sense though.

i wasn’t originally gonna say anything about this because i know it’s more or less a funny observation but i feel the need to point a few things out
homestuck(mspaintadventures) sprites are placeholders, a style of art that is meant to be as generic as possible so that artists are free to interpret their features as they will. dark hair, glasses, this outfit, the rest is up to you. they are even canonically aracial and their bodytypes have been known to change in-comic. that’s what this means. homestuck(mspaintadvendtures) is also, despite it’s popularity, an indie comic that isn’t as widespread as it seems to be.
disney is a multi-billion dollar legacy corporation that has been around for generations. whether they wanted to or not, every children’s movie they put out sets an example and a standard for impressionable young children. so when they make the same generic, big-eyed, small mouthed, round cheeked, small chinned white girls as every protag or female lead, it becomes a major issue, because it’s a beauty standard that very few people can actually adhere to.
so yeah, disney and their current direction in character design is still worse than this.Holy shit

But notice how hardly anybody found it a big deal when Jake jumped in front of a sword to save Jane’s life everyone said “but….maybe he’s just being selfish….:.….he probably just did it bc they’re friends………” yet when he attempts to do something to help Dirk everyone immediately starts w the whole OMG THEY’RE SO IN LOVE WOW CUTE BOYFRIENDS LOOK AT HOW MUCH JAKE LOVES DIRK WOW WOW LOOK!! DIRKJAKE 4 EVER!!
