A PSA about tumblr’s “best thing’s first” update

Turning it off doesn’t actually undo the chronology change.

I’ve had the option turned off since the very first moment it appeared in my settings because I Did Not Want It. But ever since the update was rolled out, the chronology of posts on my dash has been messed up anyway. Posts that I know for a fact are older are mixing in with new posts, personal text posts from friends that I know were made the night before are re-appearing as if brand new at the top of my dash.

Turning off the setting does not actually change anything. It appears to be a completely useless gesture. So if you are suffering from a loss of viewership since the update, please be aware that even once people turn off the setting they may still be missing your work. Browsing by dashboard is fairly useless now and if you want to view things in order, you’ll likely need to actually go directly to a person’s blog.

Are you using iOS or Android? I’m using iOS and my mobile dashboard is 100% the same as my desktop dashboard, in order.

im on iOS and my dashboard has been doing this for like, a month now, before the option to undo the chronology change appeared. i turned off the option soon as i saw it and it reduced the presence of “since you’ve been gone” and “trending” posts, but still shows posts out of order.

@asexualhermione My experience has been the same as @in-fi-ni

My dash started being out of order about a week before the option to turn off the update appeared and has stayed out of order since.

Interesting… and also super weird! What version of iOS, out of curiousity? I’m still on iOS 9. Maybe it’s newer versions?

i’m on ios10.3.3 and my dash has been fucked up for maybe a few weeks?? i literally thought it was a bug for a while though bc posts are SO OUT OF ORDER and some just don’t show up
