According to Sigmund Freud you’re not Pansexual

mister-christmas:

The original definition of pansexuality as described by Sigmund Freud is sexual attraction to literally EVERYTHING. Including inanimate objects (objectophilia), animals (zoophilia), corpses (necrophilia), trees ( dendrophilia), and fucking kids (pedophilia).

Freud has been discredited for a while now and is thus irrelevant in modern times unless looking at history and neuroscience (the guy was a genius and had advanced sketches and theories about neurons and the brain in general that are now being looked into again due to technology developments) Also, words change meaning over time. For example, bisexual used to mean two sexes within a species and I heard somewhere else that it used to mean intersex as well. Gay used to mean solely happy. The f slur used against the LGBT community orginally meant a bundle of sticks. Furthermore, pansexual came about in the 1990s when the nonbinary and genderqueer movement begain. It was reclaimed by the community because pan is a Greek prefix for all or every. The word still literally means sexually attracted to all. However the context in which it is used has changed because language evolves.

Sincerely, A pansexual senior psychology major
