As a JohnLock shipper, I’m all for John and Sherlock in a relationship and for a lot of people, that means Sherlock is headcanoned as gay. I’m 100% for headcanoning a character however you want to. That’s your deal. I personally read Sherlock Holmes as (depending on the adaptation) aro/ace or demiromantic ace, but that doesn’t mean I think everyone else has to see him that way. That’s just my personal headcanon.

Telling other people how characters should be viewed is mean and serves no real purpose apart from making you look like a bully.

Don’t be that person. 

Also, “x character is straight until proven otherwise” is a shitty thing to say.

If you want to headcanon a character as straight, have  at it, but don’t require others to prove or source their headcanons just because they differ from yours.

Seriously, don’t do that. Saying something like that implies that straight is the default and that’s problematic af.
