i never appreciated the composers and musicians who were apart of live soundtracks that accompanied characters’s movements.

like, ed edd n eddy for example. imagine double d takes 5 brisk steps towards the foreground to meet up with eddy. this is the main action of this particular shot and the rest of the scene is stationary. what do you hear?

if you watched the show a lot, you probably heard 5 notes played on an assortment of jazzy brass instruments. in my head it’s so clear. i love it. and the fact that it had to be new for each episode is mind boggling. there was either a lot of love or a lot of money involved with that aspect of cartoons.

i sat with a room full of composers looking for film projects to compose for & every single one of them said they’d prefer to compose for animated films than live action because cartoons are way more fun to play with music-wise. i think stuff like this just happens because it’s so much easier to be clever when ur havin fun
