babylonsabby:

What’s the trans woman version of a ‘tucute’? If a tucute is a really overly effeminate, twinky, trans dude, is his opposite a trans woman who’s really masculine? Ya know, some women can’t help that shit, that’s fucked up. When you say, “I hate tucutes because they won’t fuckin’ transition,” what I hear is, “You can’t be both genders, pick a side.” What I hear is, “Intersex people aren’t valid.” What I hear is, “Nonbinary people aren’t valid.” I hear, “The only trans people who are valid are ones that look cis, or who are trying to pass as cis.” I hear, “Only CIS people are valid, I hate being trans.” There’s no pride in your transness at all. No pride in your otherness, only self-loathing. Only sadness. Mainly cause you didn’t get the body and life you should have. Hey! I get it! I’m a dysphoric trans dude and I’m right there with ya! But, man, it is what it is. We feel like this only because we were programmed to. Because we’re expected to be cis and we’re not. It sucks, but it doesn’t have to. We’re not the problem. Transphobes are. Anyways, that’s why I can’t get behind the transmed/truscum bandwagon as much as I’ve tried to be on yalls’ side since conversing with you. I’m way too feminist for this shit. I was feminist before the dysphoria and I’m feminist now. And this is ultimately a very feminist issue just like a lot of lgbtq related issues. If it weren’t for the rules set into place by a patriarchal system, we wouldn’t even need hormones! You could just walk out your house all twinked up, say you’re a man, and nobody would give a shit!!

  2. defenestrate-yourself said: Dysphoria is a symptom that typically requires medical treatment to preserve quality of life and sometimes preserve life. Whether it makes us look bad or not, it’s a medical condition.
  3. defenestrate-yourself said: @babylonsabby I think the better question is, why is it a bad thing if trans people have a mental illness? You say in your post to blame transphobes for stigma, but then don’t blame them for the stigma here. There’s nothing wrong with mental illness, only the view it’s bad. Science points more to dysphoria having a neurological origin though, but it can be caused and aggravated by social factors.
  4. m1re1o said: @babylonsabby yeah thats the exact same reason I’m torn about it. despite the hopes tjat it would make getting hrt easier and cheaper, I still have my doubts about any of that actually happening. all I can imagine is all the cis transphobes basically going “we knew it!” in regards to us being mentally disturbed, which just isn’t true.
  5. babylonsabby said: @prince-dav1d That’s pretty much where I’m at. Doesn’t medicalizing dysphoria (for example, it’s in the DSM-5 as being previously known as ‘gender identity disorder’) about the same as saying all trans people are “mentally disturbed”? Like, we’re not crazy, we just don’t fit into the body and/or roles that we ended up stuck with. I see pros and cons of both sides, too, so I’m kinda in the middle as well.
  6. m1re1o said: @babylonsabby even when it was medicalized, from what I know it didn’t make getting hrt any easier?? and i see zero correlation between “”“transtrending”“” and the government refusing to give hormones. like, there’s literally no causation that I can see. it’s all just assbackwards reaching bc they all wanna be cis allies and write us all off as damaged and ill. I’m very torn about medicalizing it, I see good and bad, but we can’t shit on our trans siblings to do it.
  7. babylonsabby said: @prince-dav1d Seriously, though. Like, I don’t want dysphoria to be seen as a cosmetic issue in the United States, cause’ the US could give less of a fuck about trans people as it is, and they’ll use any excuse not to help us transition when we’re poor and can’t afford it. Can’t afford hormones? Too bad, too sad. At the same time, we can’t be bringing down our own people to get them. What the fuck is that gonna do, make the powers that be give us our meds any faster??
  8. m1re1o said: @babylonsabby literally have had ignorant ass truscum tell me I’m a just a crossdresser or a fujoshi without realizing I ACTUALLY HAVE BODY DYSPHORIA DUMBASSES. I’m just not a hot piece of garbage who dictates how other people’s feelings make them “trans enough” when we’re all uncomfortable with our assigned gender at birth anyway! not even some cis men want to “act” or “look” cis so why the fuck do we need to. fuck that noise.

You’d think as a community, we wouldn’t be reduced to something that ultimately boils down to, “I’m more oppressed than you,” and yet, here we are. “You’re not trans because you don’t fit the legal definition.” What are these people gonna do, just wallow in their own misery? I’m not here for definitions, I’m here to put a very broad thing into perspective.

  13. m1re1o said: technically don’t all trans people have a form of dysphoria? even if you dont have body dysphoria, you still have gender dysphoria bc your assigned gender at birth doesnt match your identity and causes you some level of discomfort. there’s still a disconnect. idk. I’m sick of truscum pitting trans ppl against each other when, to me, we all seem to still share gender dysphoria (on different scales). open to friendly discussion.
