i mean i hope you at least softblocked or something because this is…like, i’ve talked before with an anon engaging in discussion of anime aesthetics and the way that working with them, consuming and thus producing them, is in many ways tied to accepting, implying, perpetuating violence against women (and more specifically, girls) but this just comes across as an intentionally transmisogynist way of positing things.

funny how this was fucking MONTHS ago and you haven’t so much as lifted a finger to address your behavior in any way, shape, or form. funny how you think that simply being aware of and critiquing (read: paying lipservice) the problems with these anime aesthetics that blatantly cater to pedophiles absolves you of any responsibility for the ways that you personally contribute to the sexualization and objectification of young girls with the art of teenage anime girls literally flooding your blog, and its certainly not transmisogynist to point it out, and using that claim to dodge accountability is beyond disgusting. funny how, despite supposedly being so aware of these issues, you constantly have to be told that you’ve reblogged something from some lolicon fetishist OP, and even still your blog is littered with examples of these kind of posts from bloggers of the sort, both OPs and the the people you reblog from directly. funny how all it takes is a cursory look at their archives to see blatant sexualization of children, yet that much effort is too much for you. and this isnt even getting into why exactly you would consume, enjoy, and endorse content that is both largely from and for pedophiles. but how about i quit just talking about it and actually see for ourselves? i’ve went ahead and organized a neat little list for this, sorted into “kinda questionable” and “literally sourced from pedophiles” gonna put this under a readmore for length tbh

This is actually a good entry point for me to bring up a concern that I’ve always had. In all honesty, Siobhan’s a dear friend of mine and to see her unfairly treated like this is heartbreaking - but for me, defending her isn’t my only priority. As someone who is a direct victim of such issues, I want to have my own say.

To point fingers at someone and accuse them of replicating pedophilia seems to me a weirdly automatic and prevalent response I’ve been seeing with anime, and tbh it stinks to me of orientalism. I actually feel so uncomfortable at the instant association of a generic image with pornography just for its style - particularly a style originating from an Asian country. It reminds me of how I would show people pictures of my uncle’s students in their uniforms and some weirdo thought it was sexual.

I looked through the pictures listed, and like…they’re just pictures of young girls that happen to be Anime. I literally see images like that in household advertisements and subway trains. I see them in books for little children to learn the alphabet from. To (stealing a word from Tamagon) moralize about such imagery makes me so uncomfortable because I get the feeling it’s just another stigma associated with the OOH THOSE CRAZY ASIANS LURV TENACLE PR0N or even worse how people literally assume sexual shit from anything described as ASIAN.

As for the questionable source material - I’ve done it. We have all done it. I myself have reblogged some of those pictures from Siobhan myself, and the thing is, I didn’t do that because I’m someone who fetishizes young Anime Girls but because Tumblr is a platform designed for its consumers to mindlessly scroll through the dash without any thought.

Yes, we should all be more critical of where we reblog from and what we are supporting, but we also can’t deny that going through our Tumblr dashes is generally a Mindless Activity. To condemn someone for that is mean-spirited.

And also like…to call a trans woman a Dudebro…that was really unwarranted and insensitive.
