“Our short-term goals are to get folks home for the holidays”
• There are more African American men incarcerated in the U.S. than the total prison populations in India, Argentina, Canada, Lebanon, Japan, Germany, Finland, Israel and England, combined.
• Ziegler, a PhD recipient now based in Oakland, explains that a July tweet proposing the app idea gained traction, inspiring him to pursue the concept in a real way.
• While Appolition.us is another towering extension of Ziegler’s contributions towards aiding marginalized people, he knows it’s a small step towards bringing light and hope to the trying effects mass incarceration presents.

@theinfiknight they are legit, just other races a) commit less crime, b) are treated differently(I get this). But black people in the US really aren’t helping themselves when they break the law. If the state is ‘the enemy’, then don’t give them a stick to beat you with. I get its a complicated issue, but this app really isnt solving the problem. Its like saying 'ay we can be corrupt too and avoid the consequences for our actions!’

@chizdrawz buddy look I get where you’re coming from, but do you really think that twelve percent of the population having the largest majority of incarcerated people in prison is legit? Like? Seriously? Twelve percent. With the largest majority of people in prison.

Do the crime, do the time..no matter what race. If you weren’t doing anything you wont get caught. Why the fuck cant the black community get this? Stereotypes don’t come from nowhere
