I don’t like how small indigenous communities and them hunting animals is considered something that causes animals a great amount of harm and leads to extinction, while deforestation, industrial pollution, and the use of animal pelts/furs/body parts as status symbols for the rich has no bearing on their extinction -_______- good to know

White environmentalist who blame indigenous ppl for hunting are evil and I will personally fight them

no one??? does that tho?????

A lot of people do that, that the whole Ellen The Generous passing petitions to ban seal hunting even though it’s one of the only food sources for indigenous communities in the winter 👨‍💻

they’re trying to ban seal clubbing, not seal hunting

i may just be ignorant but I’ve never seen an article attempting to stop the humane killing of seals

You actually have no idea what I’m talking about do you

Holding indigenous people to a higher standard irt animal welfare is absolutely a huge issue. Hunting for survival is seen as not equal to but WORSE than going to the store and buying a pack of steaks. Never mind that the first, objectively, requires a much lower level of suffering and cruelty.

A small part of it is how disconnected people are from where their food comes from and how it gets on the shelf, and a small part of the problem is that people extend affection toward certain animals and not other (eg., the outrage over seal hunting; the outrage over eating dogs). While the second is already clear western cultural supremacy to anyone who bothers to think for two seconds, the cultural supremacy goes even further than that. Hunting is seen as outdated and ‘savage’ and dirty, having been replaced by the clean (lol) sophisticated practice of factory farming.

It absolutely isn’t a matter of the western animal agricultural model being superior in any way… just a matter of seeing Indigenous people as less human.

Anti seal hunting movents are 100% racialized and biased against Indigenous communities for the sake of profit. It isn’t even just a matter of allowing hunting for meat, because exemptions actually DO allow that for certain Canadian Indigenous communities. What is most relevant is that is a blatant way of stripping these Indigenous communities of one of the few ways they can engage in Capitalism.

Movents against seal hunting have destroyed these groups access to profit. Capitalism was violently enforced on them, and they were then robbed of one of the few ways they can thrive on it! And the best part? One of the founders of the movement fucking admitted that seals were chosen not because they’re endangered like say, hundreds of fish, amphibians, ect, but because they’re cute. They’re marketable. They naturally have sad faces

If you are against seal hunting it is 100% a farce. Stop believing what you hear from corrupt, capitalist Animal rights groups

I recommend the documentary “Angry Inuk”. It is available free for all Canadians iirc, made my actual Canadian Indigenous people. Listen to our voices, I beg of you.
