I just want to point out that the only difference between what has happened after the Stoneman Douglass shooting and other mass shootings in the US is massive civil disobedience and protest. We had reached a point of widespread existential hopelessness, as evident by the rote response we all got used to after every mass shooting, and then these kids decided to interrupt the violent regularity and say “no more!” And the response was suddenly different because it had to be.

Protest and civil disobedience works. Don’t let anybody tell you it doesn’t.
