gay culture is knowing and accepting that aces and aros belong in the LGBT+ community

gay culture is being attacked and murdered for who we love and who we are, gay culture is being stereotyped and targeted, gay culture is being forcibly outed, gay culture is having our terminology and our trends appropriated and stolen and mocked, gay culture is being stalked and harassed, gay culture is being talked down to by people who dont know what we go through, gay culture is having our history erased, gay culture is being forced out of our own spaces by people who dont experience homophobia or transphobia

gay culture is seeing a post in 2018 from a kid begging for money to run away before their parents can send them to conversion camp. gay culture is checking that kid’s blog and seeing its too late, they’ve already been taken away, and some of their last posts were responses to anon’s giving them suicide tips. gay culture is not knowing if that kid will ever come back. gay culture is immediately thinking about Leela and how she never came back. it’s knowing this will happen again, and again and again and more and more of us will die until the system that is killing us is destroyed.

and quick tip? maybe dont fucking bring up the many tragedies that have fucking happened to lgbtq+ kids just to fucking try to make a point about a post made that you dont agree with like shit what went through your damn mind that made you think saying that was okay in the slightest

i like how Fungus and Scrungus here assume you’ve never experienced the kind of shit they’re talking about. They’re so secure in the idea that we’re all cishets that they can’t possibly know what it’s like to be a ReEL qkWeEr.

Let’s see. I’m an aspec. Let’s go through the list.

I have been attacked for who I love and who I am. I have been stereotyped and targeted. I have been outed against my will (both when I was IDing as a lesbian and after I found the aspec community). I have seen aspec terminology mocked. I’ve been talked down to by plenty of people who don’t know what I go through. I have found erased history of the aspec community. I have been forced out of spaces for being aspec and for being nonbinary (and for being black).

I have seen aspec kids sent to conversion therapy. I have seen aspecs vanish off tumblr after leaving their final suicide notes (after being harassed by REGs, after coming out to their family went poorly, or just giving in to self-hatred). I have seen trans women invested in ace discourse do the same. I am oppressed by the system that is killing and destroying LGBTQIA+ people every day, all over the world.

I live it, and I’m sick of people like you fucks telling me that I have no idea what it’s like, and that I have an “oppression fetish”, and that I don’t belong in a community where I share experiences with nearly every single one of you.

These experiences are not unique to the LGBT. The QIA experiences them too. And no one in this community is more important than anyone else. A community is stronger when it has more people, when it values similarities and differences among the people that make it. I’m sick of REGs willingly fracturing a marginalized community just because they have this hateful need to bully the most recently “acceptable” target. You’ve already lost but you just need to be nasty, and that’s just shameful and sad.
