thank you, anon, for bringing to my attention that, apparently, scrooge being in a passionately romantic relationship with his number one dime is not the norm. the possibility of a world without duck/coin marriage in it didn’t even occur to me.
this is specifically a translation of the german localisation, so it’s very literal. again, german nouns are gendered, and i kept the dime being referred to as “he” to show off the humanising effect.
in the first panel, quackmore’s singing a famous german love song. in the second, scrooge recites part of the german wedding vows.
finnish translators: oh he loves and takes care of it :) it’s like his firstborn child. german translators: he fdfucking makes out with that thing
I would like to formally thank the German translators for making N.1.Dime Scrooge’s husband, I have been laughing ten minutes straight about the idea of Scrooge going around introducing the dime as his husband!!
I knew this would happen when gay marriage was legalized, grumbles someone in billionaires club.
Don’t be a fool Dave. He has been introducing that thing as his husband for fifty years, scoffs another.
this was clearly the ultimate and only purpose of the german language evolving grammatical genders. it was all so scrooge mcduck could be literally gay for pay.
