trap is 4chan slang, comes from the admiral ackbar meme. the original meme started in 2004, and one use for it was you’d say “oh look at this pretty girl” and someone else would be like

get it, looks like a girl, secretly has a dick, which makes you gay. it’s a trap. by 2006 trap was standard terminology for people and characters who were effeminate and/or crossdressers. bailey jay, being someone who became famous on 4chan, embraced trap in her stage name.
