hotcommunist:

hot take: being repulsed by ppl showing affection to the point of demanding sex free bars and having a panic attack is not normal. It isn’t a normal facet of being ace. Being a bit uneasy that someone is tonguing their partner and really going for it near you, sure I guess.

But outright repulsion isn’t, and I hate that this damn hellhole website is putting it out there to impressionable wee kids that that kinda level of disgust is normal if you’re ace, especially when the context is not “two people fucking in front of me in public”, it’s “two people making out or maybe at worst dry humping”.

Don’t normalise that. I say this as an abuse and rape survivor who is, for the most part, not interested in sex. It’s damaging and leads to a vicious cycle of disgust and misery that often inadvertently turns into homophobia.

Like I know I’m gonna get hate for this but please don’t make impressionable kids on this site not address their (often complex and very valid) intimacy issues because you’ve told them that it’s normal to absolutely freak out at two people doing their own thing entirely separate to you.
