I guarantee you, anyone with “x critical” wording in their blog description is either a radfem or unwittingly drinking radfem koolaid

not to be that dude but what about kink critical or people who are critical of the media they consume (like su critical). i dont think they’re drinkin the koolaid, i think its just unfortunate that radfems ruined ___ critical. (which im confused anyway because I’ve literally only seen radfems use gender critical)

consider yourself lucky if you haven’t heard it, radfems use these words often in clusters. they tend to call themselves kink critical, porn critical, and gender critical. (to throw another one in “piv critical”)

and basically, i think that using this sort of terminology, normalises radfem terminology, and allows for dogwhistles to slide by quicker.

i personally would say it literally turns oppression and deaths into a joke… like when you call yourself su critical, you’re just doing this dramatic throw-away statement about a children’s show.

it turns it almost to a joke when people do that… it’s terms people use to veil their bigotry, not something you just throw out there whenever a show does something people don’t like. transmisogyny has a death toll, does su have a death toll attached to it?

it unfortunately doesn’t really mean “i have constructive criticism”, it means “i want this group to not exist”. it’s a common crypto-bigoted thing to do, where people try to make their murderous beliefs seem more palatable. when we use x-critical for basically anything we don’t like or have criticism for, we’re normalising bigoted ideologies and enabling dogwhistles to slide by.

this is why i will absolutely despise anyone saying x-critical for this shit. they’re turning oppression and bigoted manipulation tactics into a joke. there’s better things to call oneself or do. but formatting your ideology and views around a hateful ideology is perhaps not the best approach to take with things.
