Holy shit!!

I was quite shocked when I saw this so I went and looked this Twitter profile up.  It didn’t take long for me to find the tweets in these screenshots.  There was something really off about it, so I scrolled through and I’m like 97.62988% convinced it’s a Nazi sock-puppet.  There’s apparently an epidemic of fake antifa Twitter accounts.  While the primary aim of these is to discredit antifa, I think another effect, whether it’s intentional or not, is to incite infighting.

On the off chance that this is someone being genuine, the effect is still the same.  They’re still going to potentially start unnecessary internal conflict.

There are several giveaways:

• They’re mean to dogs
• They too readily hurl the word Nazi at even people who aren’t even white supremacists, including Laci Green
• They were retweeting the “J.K. Rowling is a Nazi” nonsense
• They talk too much about Bernie Sanders like they’re obsessed with him
• They seem to fit the image right-wingers have of ‘SJWs’ a little too perfectly
• There are a few slip ups
• They’re mean to dogs!
• They retweet people whom I would expect are targeted for cringe compilations

I can’t be bothered with checking if the links are all correct.  I’m too lethargic.

Cambridge Antifa is indeed 100% fake. However, transphobia and racism within some “feminist” circles is still a problem. We can’t vouch for anything that a fake account says, but let it simply be said that our solidarity does extend to trans* individuals and nonwhite feminists.

Do be aware that there are almost 300 more such fake Twitter accounts purporting to be antifascist. Some are obvious fakes, some are right-wing parodies, and some are attempting to infiltrate and be taken seriously.
