i know everyone’s very excited about the australian marriage equality passing it’s third reading but the bill is titled “marriage amendment (definition and religious freedoms)” and that should be cause for concern
schedule 1 amends the sex discrimination act to allow discrimination against LGBT couples
Amends the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 to establish that a minister of religion, religious marriage celebrant and chaplain may refuse to solemnise a marriage irrespective of other provisions in the Act.
Establishes that ministers of religion, religious marriage celebrants and bodies established for religious purposes may refuse to make facilities available or provide goods or services for a marriage ceremony.that shit happening in the united states with the supreme court and “religious freedom” and fucking wedding cakes? it just got legalised in australia in the same bill as same sex marriage.
