This again whole preoccupation with “representing” voices of certain communities is that almost all of that rely on the weird simplistic idea that they all say the same thing and that everyone agrees on them. Like even if you think you’re being fair, you’re still going to choose the “voice” you believe in or promote.

For example, a lot of American propagandists use Miami Cubans and what not to speak about communism and how Castro was a tyrant, which might be something a lot of Cubans greatly disagree on. But liberals will still use it as a way of silencing the left with the whole “listen to the narratives of these people” rhetoric, even if the narratives we’re supposed to listen to belong to people who fled a country because they owned slaves and would face repercussions for that. Lol
