If someone is very toxic their politics are likely to be poisoned by their toxicity also. Thus I think it is normal and healthy to reexamine their worldview and the things you learned from them or ideas you shared in common to begin with.

I’ve seen whole world views finally start getting questioned and taken apart because the biggest people behind them were outed as sexual predators which opened the door for this

Since a broken clock is right twice a day anyways this does not mean that everything they ever said was completely wrong but a lot of stuff could be onto something just filtered thru a toxic lens.

And if you think some other person having the same questionable ideas is a red flag that they might also be a shitty person or under the influence of one (if they have a large presence it’s probably not just being under the influence) then you’d be probably be right
