Like heres the thing wrt to the discourse on my dash: its not that any trans woman is saying “trans men have it easy” or even “trans men have it easy as cis men” but what we are saying is that trans men are men and its frustrating to see men dodge accountability by virtue of being trans. Because as a trans woman, when I transitioned I gave up any sense of material safety and privilege I received from my birth assignment and my class location within patriarchy changed in a way that sort of is brutal. So when trans men say “I’m a man but I don’t want to be held accountable for the class position of being a man” its really frustrating because for me transition meant a full scale divestment of what I had before and I don’t get to be a woman when its convenient to me and a man when its not.

And more specifically to touch directly on the mess happening in response to winters very thoughtful posts, when trans men constantly tell trans women that our experiences of these differences in lgbt and “queer” spaces around us are mispercetions, that feel like a classic case of men telling women theyre being hysterical and are incorrect about there experiences. Its very frustrating and very consistent.

As a trans man it makes me very disappointed when other trans men don’t take responsibility for their male privilege
