For anyone planning on not voting in the plebiscite, you’re not beating the system. Everyone knows it’s a ridiculous waste of money. But unless you vote “yes” then your vote is going to count as a no. When the results are tallied, it won’t be read as 35% yes, 20% no and 45% felt this whole thing was unnecessary. It will simply be read as “Only 35% of the population think Australia should have marriage equality.”
My fellow Aussies, I know it’s bullshit that they’ve done this but PLEASE vote yes! This is really important to me and those I love.
