Huh.

I knew you could get Google to show you a unit converter tool by typing “unit converter” in to the search field, but I just discovered something new: if you need to convert to or from a unit that’s not in the dropdowns, you can append it to your search string and Google will add it.

So in the event that you ever need to convert from, say, furlongs to light-years, you can just type “unit converter furlong light year“, and you’ll get a unit converter tool whose unit selector dropdowns include furlongs and light years.

Handy!
