so ive been really hyped for the magic school bus reboot but
that immediately changed when I stumbled upon these screenshots
What kind of flash animated bullshit is this???
yall like this looks so bad
Why do creators insist on using cheap low-budget animation for
cartoon series, particularly remakes/reboots these days??
I really had people defending this shit on my Facebook today with “This isn’t for us. We still have the old ones to watch, and parents can show their kids the old ones. Any attempt to get kids interested in learning and introduce them to The Magic School Bus is a win. They’re making this for a new generation of learners.”
That’s. Not. The point. The point has nothing to do with whether or not it’s “for us” or “for kids” or “getting kids interested in science” or whatever. The point is that it looks like shit. Clearly no effort or heart was put into the creation of this product and it looks like hot garbage. I’m tired of being told I can’t or shouldn’t form a negative opinion on something that is aesthetically revolting just because it’s “for kids”.
With Netflix having the amount of cash it does, there’s really no good reason that the Magic School Bus Reboot looks like a freaking Episode App.
I’m disappointed that this is the quality level that Netflix chose for this reboot; I understand that they have probably stretched themselves a little thin and are trying to make a lot of content for little money- but this level of animation isn’t even the ‘top tier’ of what you can achieve with Flash Animation- Bob’s Burgers uses Flash Animation, MLP uses Flash Animation- there’s a difference between utilizing a tool to animate and getting subpar game studios to churn out app level animations, which is the big distinction we should all be looking at.
