In 1989, an extensive series of Super Mario greeting cards was released by Nintendo. Most of them featured Super Mario Bros. 2 characters, while the rest portrayed Super Mario Bros. characters. Almost all of the characters are drawn on-model and are consistent with official art from NES manuals. However, one particular card contains this character, who does not seem to correspond to anything that exists in the Mario series. It is possible that this is an attempt to create a character based on the Stopwatch item from Super Mario Bros. 2. Outside of these two drawings, no further material of this character exists.
