• do you ever stop to wonder what happens to imprisoned people during natural disasters like hurricane harvey?
  
• often, the are transported to other facilities - which means for the duration of the disaster the prison is overstaffed, short resourced. 
• sanitary conditions often become compromised, food and water supplies shortened, spaces overcrowd easily. 
• during hurricane katrina, many imprisoned people were abandoned by the state and reportedly were in cells filled with water to their hips.

• we don’t think of these things because we live in a carceral state, where the lives of imprisoned/detained people are routinely disregarded. 
• prisons are often placed on the outskirts of town, hidden, outta sight/outta mind so we don’t think of these people or their struggles. 
• rappers in texas are bringing food and water to inmates affected by the hurricane: [link]
