I think that people need to start seeing illegal or unethical things that bosses do to employees (like firing them for something that isn’t their job and they can’t prevent from happening in any real way without having a guard card from the state) as the real problem.

My concern is primary for poor people who steal to live, which is probs most shoplifters. Any moral support given to the narrative that shoplifters are rich teens who don’t need it is harmful to the poor people who need to live. I was once one of these people.

Even a place like Sephora might be targeted for (A) resale value, or (B) by a trans girl who needs to pass as cis to avoid violence.

In as far as narrative impacts public ideas I don’t think people should hear “shoplifter” and imagine some bougie lady walking out of macy’s with a Coach bag for the thrill of it.

Basically, it’s the bosses and the bougie and we should all collectively focus on them as the primary antagonist of both the workers and the impoverished.
