Stories from the Library #1

captain-cosmology:

I’m cackling ok so I work at a library on Thursday’s, and I was off this week because of vacation. Mid day, I get a phone call from my coworker, Matt. “Julia wants to talk to you.” He says. Julia is a foster child who attends our programs. She’s eight and is an absolute doll. “Miss Pidge! Mattie says I can’t marry my favorite prince!” She cries angrily. I ask her why he says that, as Matt usually encourages the kids imaginations. “Mattie says that humans can’t marry animals.” I’m all, What?? And Matt takes back the phone to explain that Julia, dear sweet Julia, wants to marry Tamatoa the crab. Because they share an interest in shiny things and glow in the dark items. So he hands back the phone and I say to Julia, “follow your dreams. Marry a crab. Cover yourself in shiny jewelry. I can bring my glow in the dark nail polish next week, if you’d like.” Matt thinks I’ve officially lost it, and now our sweet Julia is planning her underwater wedding.
