as awful as it is that my source for this is “anecdote that may be from discourse on Something Awful dot com” I remember seeing an article talk about how a trading firm in fact had a computerized system that was not merely tracking their trades, but in fact tracking the regulations that were violated over the course of a day’s trading and adding up the fines accrued for said violations. Once the day’s trading was over, it added up how much was to be taken out in fines, and sent that to the FTC. 

transgression is in fact built into the system of finance capitalism in the modern realization of schizophrenic, late capitalist exchange. this is not new for capitalism, but the particular insidiousness and openness with which it is present is occasionally staggering. it is a market of wannabe-Wolves styling themselves after Leonardo DiCaprio and hedge funds set up to “improve the lives of women” making a statue to conduct a further semiotic turn on a piece of public art that had already been fully transfigured in meaning.

the aesthetics of violence of the modern producer are so readily apparent in cases like these, so much a part of what allow them to function, it is the only means by which “liberal communists” like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, supposed benefactors like Elon Musk can appear in any way to be benevolent. the violence is unfurled in justifying itself.
