Well, you know…shit.

why would you pay someone for 26-51 weeks for doing nothing

you have a very, very odd definition of “doing nothing”.

On a scale from zero to American society, how much do you hate women and children

on a scale from zero to america how much do you understand that people who arent working shouldnt be paid for not working????

“aren’t working”

bitch do you understand how hard it is to raise a baby? why do we punish mother’s for doing what’s natural? why are the options “the babies or your life”

raising childen must be one of the hardest and most important jobs. ofc they need help so the kid is raised properly :p

Exactly. The family is the backbone of society. That we neglect it because it makes more profit ought to be a national shame tbh

Uh so here’s the thing

It’s not that the US has NO family leave. This graph is really misleading. It’s that the government doesn’t REQUIRE a certain amount of family leave for employers, but instead employers can make their own rules.

What you’re missing is that forcing family leave will negatively impact women. As a woman I think I have some say on this. I will be viewed as a less desirable employee than a man because employers will have to provide paid family leave to me if I want a baby. Less women are hired overall.

Rather than forcing companies to do something that ends up punishing women, paid family leave in the US is how companies compete. If they want good competent female employees, they will already want to provide paid family leave as a way to compete with other employers for good talent. The same should go for health services and whatnot. A good company that makes money will treat their employees well; companies don’t make as much money if they mistreat their employees.

Reaaaaaaallly?

Walmart will give you 8 weeks of maternity leave if you have FMLA. More new mothers return after just 4 weeks out of fear of not having their jobs held for them.

So what was that about a good company that makes good money will treat their employees well?

This libertarian dream you’ve got going on here has absolutely no basis in reality. Companies cannot be trusted to do right by their employees, especially their female employees.
