Not to entirely dismiss what ADAPT accomplished yesterday (and throughout their history), but direct action tactics that rely on 

1. the police being too scared/paternalistic to arrest protesters in wheelchairs and/or
   
2. people and the media caring when police do arrest, manhandle, and injure those protesters
   

are predicated on whiteness. 

There’s a reason why images of white ADAPT protesters are dominating the news coverage. America can only manage to give half a fuck about police brutality when the victim is white. (Or a beloved house pet.)
