loxapinequeen:

  • the simplistic “chemical imbalance” theory of mental illness has been debunked for years. psychiatrists readily admit this
  • mental illness cannot be diagnosed based on brain structure alone. there is a great deal of overlap between clinical and non-clinical populations in this respect
  • mental illness is physically embodied in the brain. so are personality, memory, learning, and emotion
  • there is a natural degree of physical variation between brains. these differences fall on a spectrum. the point on this spectrum at which point a brain becomes “diseased” or more charitably “divergent” is arbitrary and informed by social concepts of health and sanity, which vary across cultures and time periods
  • please do not insist that my self and my neurodivergencies can be disentangled
  • please do not insist that my brain is physically defective
  • thank
