Screencaps from an article about two brother’s reaction to the news coverage of their father murdering their mother and sister.

Why is it so common to ask random strangers about murderers, and get quotes about how they’re “nice” and “caring” - people who didn’t even know them personally?

Imagine if you were in their position and you had a family member who’d been abusive for years, and now you’re seeing some random neighbor describing them as “nice” or “polite” all over the news, as if their opinion has any relevance whatsoever.

It ends up creating the same narrative every time, painting the abuser in a sympathetic light.
