You’re gay! Who the fuck cares! Are you kind? Are you honest? Are you a gentleman? Do you treat your partner with respect? Are you faithful? Are you devoted? Do you put that person first in your life? Those are the kinds of things about your relationship that matter to the people around you and none of those things are activated by, “hey I like to suck cock and take it in the ass, and fuck you if you have a problem with that!” People can be in opposition without being enemies. We don’t have to agree in order to get along but if we deliberately pick things that we know will be contentious and make those our opening, we don’t give our audience much room to maneuver, so either stop doing it or else admit it’s intentional and quit crying crocodile tears when you get the response you wanted all along. There’s no shock value or drama or tripped trigger when I say I’m straight…I haven’t done anything in being straight that requires anyone’s approval or acceptance so now I have to be observed and judged, solely on the merits of my character. But if I say “ man I bent that woman of mine over and railed her till her knees wobbled” no one wants to know if I’m a good person because all they see is a rude disrespectful asshole. I don’t offer a choice… I don’t invite judgement by throwing my personal preferences in everyone’s face. The reality is nobody gives a shit what goes on behind my bedroom door.
