ok so just for the info of people who (wisely) have nothing to do with shitty ace discourse, I need y’all in the community to know what the fuck exactly has been going down:

in an attempt to make a community standard that explicitly excludes aces and aros, discoursers claimed that to be in the community you have to be either trans or sga* (same gender attracted.)

when many aces/aros pointed out that this excluded nonbinary/agender people who do not identify as trans, intersex people, questioning/just queer identifying people, Two Spirit people, and bisexuals who are attracted to 2+ genders but not their own, discoursers literally started insisting that those groups were either “actually cishet” and/or are not allowed into the community.

furthermore, they started a campaign against the term “queer” and all queer identifying people, condemned anyone who considered themselves part of the “queer” community, and started censoring genderqu**r (like that) and telling everyone to “stop identifying as a slur.”

I need y’all to be aware that this little “movement,” regardless of your stances on aces/aros, is antagonizing, excluding, misgendering, and harming these people inside the community and it’s not just harmless internet discourse. there is real impact on these groups, real children being denied support, and people need to start responding and shutting this shit down.

TL;DR: anti-ace discourse has progressed to them policing and excluding certain bisexuals, nonbinary people, agender people, intersex people, Two Spirit people, and transphobically censoring genderqueer people’s identities while attacking and demeaning anyone who identifies as queer. It’s not just about aces and aros anymore. Please do something. We need help.

*sga also has traceable roots back to conversion therapy and is still in use by therapists and conservative groups, but the hypocrisy is apparently lost on this anti-queer lot and they keep forcefully using it on people and demanding that it be applied as a community requirement. to most of our knowledge, they are the only people who use the term outside of those contexts.
