Anonymous: is it true that you can avoid or mitigate hangovers (even at the age of hangover occurrence) by consuming a fuckton of water before and during your drinking session?

I mean it works for some people, because the headache you get is mostly due to dehydration so alternating drinks with water or drinking a lot of water at the end of the night helps with that.

Also, the just sort of general gross feeling you get when hung over has to do with the build up of toxins from the breakdown of the alcohol (along with whatever else is in what you’re drinking like tannins and shit). Your liver prioritizes breaking down the ethanol so the other stuff builds up in your system until your liver can get around to dealing with them, which is why you feel gross and sick the next day. 

Water doesn’t really help much with that, although it certainly doesn’t hurt, and alternating drinks with water is also a good way to monitor and moderate the amount you’re drinking, which is only a good thing. So drink up!
