Niantic has put out a statement regarding the recent updates they’ve made to Pokémon GO. The link in the tweet goes to a post on their Facebook page

• they stated that they have removed the tracker because they are working on a better design for the tracking system. The 3 footprints tracker “was confusing and did not meet underlying product goals”
  
• they are working on bringing the game to countries where it is not yet available, including Brazil
  
• they reminded us that they have heard the complaints and they are working like crazy to improve the game
  

It’s times like this that we need to remember that Niantic is a company of at most 50-ish people. This is a huge project for anyone, but for a tiny team like them, this is gargantuan.
