Hello everyone!

tlchalla:

With the pan day of awareness coming around the corner it’s inspired me to put a little project together (though sadly I doubt this will be ready in time for the actual day). Being pansexual myself, I’ve noticed that there seems to be a huge misconception on what pansexuality even is. When you’re pansexual you almost get used to seeing your sexuality left out of support posts. You see everyday people erase your sexuality and have people constantly ask you “Are you sure you’re not just bisexual?” It’s a sexuality constantly overshadowed by bisexuality it’s self; though the two are similar and face many of the same phobics and challenges that’s not a topic that’s mentioned or talked about like at all and is just seen as problems bisexuals face alone. Pansexuality has been coined as a “newer” sexuality, but that doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t be educated.

Which is why I wanted to start this whole thing. I wanted people who identify on the pan spectrum, whether it be pansexual or panromantic, to record just a small maybe 5 to 7 minute video of them talking about their experiences in the community. Any coming out stories, or hardships you’ve gone through, and what it means to you to identify as someone who is pan. It doesn’t have to be something necessarily high quality, if all you have is your phone or your computer web came that’s just fine. I’d like to edit them (or have someone help me edit them) all together in a way that will hopefully help people understand that us being forgotten about isn’t something that’s okay. People need to be educated and this can be a step in doing so.

I want you guys to be as real as you possibly can in these videos, don’t worry about other people’s feelings. Start with saying “My name is _____ and I’m pan_____” If you need any help talk about when you first realized pansexual/panromantic was a thing and that it was something that applied to you. What has your experiences in the lgbtqa+ community been like? Have you come out to anyone? If yes, how did that go? If no, what has kept you from doing so? You don’t have to necessarily answer those questions, those can just guide you if you feel a little stuck.

When you’re done I’d like you to email them to me @ mypanawareness@gmail.com so that I can try to assemble them in to something for everyone to see. Even if you’re not pansexual it’d be great to at least reblog it just to spread the word in hopes that more people can see it and there’s a greater chance for people participating. If anyone has any questions my askbox is always open, or you can email me at the email mentioned above.
