For those keeping score at home, the tumblr SJW “movement” currently:

-exhibits several characteristics of a cult

I love how this has no citations and nothing to back it up.

apart from all of those ‘points’ being pathetically untrue, there is no ‘sjw movement’ because sjws aren’t a thing?

bullcrap. “SJW movement” is EXTREMELY loosely defined group with no set goals or leadership, cult is a extremely closed group with a defined leader who directly commands the group. Cults avoid interacting with the outside world and making themselves known, “SJWs” are social activists and as such regularly interact with the world via direct action, petitions, protests, et cetera.

-promotes cultural and racial segregation

that one is freaking hilarious because “SJWs” as a group are one of the most diverse groups out there. You can find people of any gender - including a bunch that aren’t even men and women, any race (despite claims on anti SJs that “sjws hate white people!!!” there’s shitton of white leftist social activists - e.g. me writing this), any culture and country (only 35% traffic of tumblr comes from USA), and they definitely encourage each other to learn about their respective histories and cultures - and actually even encourage cultural exchange, when it’s invited and done respectfully (noone will yell at you because you like sushi, lol).

-promotes a hierarchy based on race and gender

Nope. “SJWs” say that various people are oppressed in different ways should be allowed to form opinions about their oppression - however, there definitely is no singular hierarchy, as “SJWs” explicitly deride concept of “oppression olympics” - cis black homeless lesbian might be in a worse living situation than a white straight trans woman, but when said white trans woman speaks about transphobia, said cis black woman should shut up and listen, because she has nothing important to say about transphobia. Opposite would be true regarding homophobia, or racism.

So, “SJWs” simply want people who have more relevant opinions (i.e. someone who experienced racism to speak about racism) to speak about stuff - which is how it goes everywhere, I mean - if you’re in some nerd club and want someone to deliver analysis of Batman throughout the years, you’d probably want someone who’s a huge Batman fan who read plenty of Batman comics to speak on the matter instead of a casual fan who saw half of The Dark Knight and played Arkham Origins.

There is no linear actual hierarchy, and this just betrays complete lack of understanding of “social justice” circles.

-advocates bullying and harassment

Is there bullying and harassment in “SJW” circles? Absolutely! And I’m going to write this as a fault of “SJW” groups the very moment you will find me a single group on the internet that doesn’t have fringe that encourages bullying/doxxing/harassment. Yes, that includes Anti SJs.

Also I don’t exactly see where people advocate “bullying and harassment”, though. There is harassment but I don’t really see anyone endorsing it (inb4 “getting racists fired”, this is usually response to racist harassment by said people - when you call someone the n-word, it’s kinda childish to dish it out if you can’t take the heat, then it’s just consequences for your actions.)

(No offense, but when “SJWs” mention something about “kill all X”, this is pretty much a morbid joke coming from the idea how ridiculous such concept is - i.e. black people never in history had power to kill all racists, for example - but white racists very often had power to kill black people.

these accusations towards the tumblr ‘social justice warrior’ movement always make me laugh because social justice has been a concept since fuckin Plato’s times, and I just read a scholarly article in my senior level sociology class discussing it from the 50′s hahaha. social justice has always been a thing, just because people on the internet use this age-old concept to talk about things anti SJ’s don’t like doesn’t make em a cult. 

maybe people would take sjw’s more seriously if they would hold themselves to the same standards of behavior as everyone else. idk, just a thought.

This is a blogging platform, not a classroom. While social justice is indeed a concept that’s existed forever, that doesn’t mean that marginalized people have to treat blogging in the same manner as a goddamn scholarly article.
