In the latest Go Get A Roomie comic one of the characters talks about how weird it is that shows only have 1 black character who then dies
Which is a legit message
Delivered by a webcomic with only 1 character of color.
Hm
hmmmmmmmmmmm
(this is about Friday’s update btw, and its explod-y reaction in comment section)
1.) valid point. Which is why when I was writing the comic strip out, I thought about having Richard break the fourth wall by implying GGaR’s OWN characters being mostly white. But it felt too much, in too little time (”time”= four panel comic). Richard still has a non-committed reaction in the last panel as a way of saying “this is beyond me”.
2.) My comic has 2 characters of color, Aggie and WOC. And others are half-asian (twins), and Susan is supposed to be latino, for example.
3.) The fact that my webcomic has a majority of white characters is based on past me being in a circle of 90% white friends, and not particularly thinking about representation beyond sexualities. My characters can’t be changed now. I would’ve loved being able to add even more diversity in my cast of characters, and have my main characters other than the white default media so loves. But I simply can’t change that.
So is it wrong for me to talk about it in my comic, even though most characters are white? I don’t think so. I think it’s perfectly valid. Perhaps I believe this because I do feel conscious about these things (more than past me anyway), and I feel I’m perfectly apt to bring this out in the comic, regardless of the characters’ own skin color.
4.) There are actually REASONS behind Watch telling us these things. The political view point of the comic strip is a bonus, but first and foremost, it is Watch giving us more information on their background. Don’t bring it all on politics, internet. This is a story I’m trying to write here.
5.) Those saying I have an agenda by pushing my awkward political propaganda: please don’t announce it to everyone. It’s supposed to remain secret. Thanks.

What kind of shitty fucking trash response is this to a perfectly valid point from a queer person of color? Do yourself...
