It has even been used in the Marvel VS Capcom videogame in which Deadpool has a signature “4th-Wall Crisis” attack. Watch him use it against Captain America on YouTube.

Deadpool doesn’t always seem to be aware of the fourth wall, and sometimes he is only partially able to see through it, such as in Cable & Deadpool #24 where Deadpool makes reference to the Marvel movieverse (specifically, Spiderman’s movie) and yet somehow is still unaware that Peter Parker is Spiderman:

There are times that his ability isn’t as funny and we see that existing within a universe that only Deadpool knows it’s fake makes him all the more unable to relate to his peers, and their inability to understand puts unbridgeable distances between them:

I think the most poignant example of Deadpool breaking the fourth wall is in Wade Wilson’s War. In it we see a side-by-side comparison of how Deadpool remembers his time in the Weapon X program against how it “really happened” but then at the end Deadpool talks directly to the reader and suggests that not only may both versions being incorrect, but Wade Wilson’s whole experience as Deadpool might be the delusions of a wounded man who simply loves comic books too much.
