Mhm, my best friend is (as well 3 or 4 of my other good friends), and I’ve identified as pan before even though I use bi as my label now. Pansexuality means sexual attraction to all genders. (There are more genders than the male-female binary system in our society would have us believe.)
It can mean slightly different things to different people, including:
- A person’s gender has no influence over whether you’re attracted to them
- Their personality/mind/etc matters more to you than their gender
- You want your sexual orientation label to explicitly include nonbinary genders
- Or maybe “bisexual” and “polysexual” just don’t seem wide enough for you, maybe you prefer the way “pansexual” sounds and fits with who you are.
I hope this cleared it up a little bit…? If not, feel free to shoot me more questions about what specifically is confusing you and I can get the bff over here to help you out too.
