This is part of the reason I am switching over to Tsu for the majority of my social networking, and why I encourage anyone to do the same!  It’s a great way for people to support artists without having to spend large chunks of disposable income that they may not have!  I had the pleasure of donating some change to an artist who has been very kind to me on tsu, and they seemed to really appreciate it even though it wasn’t a whole bunch; but it made me realize how grateful I was to even have the option to do so!
