Anonymous: I feel for the parisian victims but you have to admit that your country is far from irreproachable when it comes to racial minorities. And if you refuse to talk about it now then when? You say you want respect but you sound like you're using the victims of the attack to silence any criticism directed at your country, which is exactly what happened in january by the way. If you're going to block me for saying that then go ahead.

First off, “I feel for the victims, but” is a very horrible thing to say.

Second, of course France is far from being a paradise of racial tolerance. So? What’s it got to do with the attacks?

Based on what we know now, which is not much, the terrorists who attacked the Bataclan mentioned France’s military support to Syrian rebels as well as our decision to welcome in our country Syrian refugees fleeing from daesh. Again for the people in the back because tumblr doesn’t like to acknowledge this stuff: daesh attacked Paris because France supports Syrian rebels.

The motives behind those attacks have nothing to do with racial inequalities and I don’t have enough patience to accept being lectured by any ignorant foreigner who thinks these attacks were somehow a manifestation of the anger of the oppressed.

Do you really think daesh gives a fuck about french racial minorities? No, they don’t. Sorry to burst your bubble but they really don’t. The attack isn’t about racism, and if you indeed want to criticize what France did to make daesh angry, then you’re going to have to criticize our military support of the Syrian rebels or our decision to welcome Syrian refugees.

If you want to criticize racism in France (by all means do, there’s a lot to say on that topic) then you’re going to have to do it without bringing up the terrorist attacks.

Besides, linking the two sounds like you’re associating french racial minorities with daesh and isn’t that kind of fucked up?

Of course there’s going to be an increase in racism and islamophobia in the next weeks / months / years, nobody is naive or deluded about that. You can criticize that as well if you want to, when it happens. What you absolutely can’t do is take racism in France and use it to try to excuse, justify, or lessen the impact of a tragedy that had nothing to do with racism but was, again, motivated by our involvement with the Syrian conflict.

And let’s not even talk about the fact that tons of people from racial minorities were in the Bataclan and in those restaurants. Like, tons. Americans please just shut the fuck up
