I CANNOT BELIEVE that I actually see the need to make this post, but–

Severus Snape:

• joined a paramilitary group founded on the hatred of muggleborn witches and wizards, like Lily, and sought to oppress and exterminate them
  
• called Lily a “filthy mudblood”–a vile slur–to denigrate her
  
• unknowingly betrayed Lily by informing Voldemort about Trelawney’s prophecy, which led to Voldemort targeting the Potters
  
• attempted to “save” Lily by begging Voldemort to feel free to murder her husband and infant son, but spare her life as a favor to him
  
• spent six years deliberately abusing his authority–as an adult and a teacher–to bully Lily’s child because he strongly resembled James, who he still resented
  
• only ‘protected’ Harry because Dumbledore manipulated/talked him into it for “the greater good” of his master plan, and because he shared a superficial trait with Lily in their eyes

Pearl:

• followed Rose Quartz into war and did everything in her power to openly and selflessly protect her from their enemies, albeit in a manner that was very harmful to herself
• loves Rose, who accepted her, made her feel like she was everything, and likely reciprocated her feelings (see: Rose’s response to Pearl’s devotion in “Rose’s Scabbard”; their synchronization dance; Rainbow Quartz)
• behaved condescendingly toward Greg because she was jealous of his relationship with Rose and feared that she and Rose would grow apart because of him…yet to our knowledge she never tried to break them up or lashed out at Rose (who’s very likely polyamorous) for having another relationship; also, she is currently on amicable terms with Greg
• loves (and openly behaves lovingly toward) Steven, plays a significant part in raising and co-parenting him along with Greg/Garnet/Amethyst, highly prioritizes his safety and well-being, and takes every opportunity she can to teach and bond with him 
• even though her struggles with her grief/past trauma have sometimes caused her to make mistakes that have harmed or unwittingly put Steven at risk, she remains a positive figure in his life that he loves dearly
  

…how are these two in ANY way equivalent.

spoiler alert: THEY AREN’T.

Pearl is absolutely nothing like Snape, and she is nothing like a Nice Guy™.
