Dear stevencrewniverse,
Can you please stop it with the “haha look at this man dressed up as Rose” jokes? I really like Steven Universe but it’s so hard to keep watching when you keep having these transmisogynist jokes at the expense of me and other trans women.
First you have Uncle Grandpa dressed as Rrose + uncle grandpa as a mermaid, then the “horrifying reveal” of Greg dressed as Rose in Pearl’s dream. Yeah sure there’s in-universe explanations but these gags only work because of a cultural basis of transmisogyny, and it teaches children assigned male at birth that wearing a dress or expressing femininity is something to be laughed at and ridiculed. It reinforces transmisogyny in our culture. This show does so much good I hate how my experience of it is soiled by transmisogyny.
